Episode 51 - Sweater from Stash

Hello and welcome to this weeks episode of the podcast.

If you are on Ravelry and looking for me there I am knittynatterzena and I am on Twitter and Plurk and also Instagram as knittynatter

There is a group on ravelry knittynatter-podcast and it would be great if you came and joined.  Every month there is a finished projects thread and one random generated winner gets their choice of either a pattern on ravelry up to the value of $7 or a set of my hand made stitch markers and you can go over to the etsy store knittynatter to choose a set from there.

LOLs
Stripey socks for my son in Knit Picks Felici in Aquarium colourway are finished.  I used size 2.25mm needles, magic loop and 52 stitches around.  Managed to get both socks matching and from one 50g ball of yarn which us a little over 200 yards.  Toe up using Judy's Magic Cast on, Afterthought heels and sewn bind off

Seamless Salomas Slipper is a pattern from Susan Busbee and adapted by Megan Williams and I have finished two pairs of these, one for me and one for my son.  I knit the smallest size for me and modified the number of stitches cast on for my son's pair,  both pairs used size 4.0mm needles and we both remaining half skeins of Gnomeacres superwash worsted.  Mine were in the Betelgeuse colourway and my sons were in Under the Tree colourway.
I chose to leave the opening ungrafted as I preferred the look.

Fourth LOL is the makai, which was mystery KAL with Mel from Single Handed Knits Podcast and I used Manos del Uruguay Alegria yarn.  Full pattern has now been released and this is lovely shawl with plenty of texture and movement.  I used almost all of my 445 yards on a 3.25mm needle.

Last LOL is my Happy Hat which is a sockhead hat in the hand dyed yarn from Stitch Solihull in the shouting out colourway.  I used size 3mm needles and love this hat so much!!!!
Stretchy cast on I used can be found on You Tube

Nattering away
Two new projects this week ...

I started Zuzu's Petals by Carina Spencer out of my handspun Loop bump in the kaleidoscope eyes colour way.  I am doing the larger stitch count even though my yarn is DK / Worsted as I want to use as much of the 336 yards as possible.  I am using 5.00mm needles and loving the sparkle!!

I also started a crochet project which is the babette blanket and I am using 9 colours from Bergere de France Ideal on a 3.5m hook.

Whispering to me
I have the sweater knitting bug with the onset of the chilly weather and not far off the start of Autumn. In an effort to encourage me to use my stash yarn I am starting a Sweater from Stash KAL to run through Sept and Oct, details are all set out in the thread so head over and join in :)

Also I will be joining in with Mel in the Buddy System K2gether in the singlehandedknits group so go ahead and check out that group for more details.

Speech Therapy
Two balls of Austermann Step sock yarn plus all the balls for the babette blanket!!

Lastly I wanted to highlight a recently released pattern A Little Help from my Friends by Alison Ziegler (ATexasYarn) where half of the $5 purchase price is being donated to bladder cancer advocacy network
I have set up a prize thread in the group as I will be buying two copies as prizes, please head over an post for your chance to win a copy.

I hope you all have a fantastic couple of weeks and I'll see you soon,

Bye now :)
